Hot Yoga FAQs
Is every class hot?
Yes. All of our classes are heated and have the benefits of the heat.
How hot is Hot Yoga?
The room is intentionally hot. It is heated to warm your muscles, prevent injuries and allow for a deeper release in your body. Sweating will also help flush toxins and poisons from your body. We heat the room to 95-100 degrees.
What should I wear to yoga?
We recommend wearing clothes you are comfortable moving and sweating in. Workout clothing and beach attire both work well in the yoga room.
What should I bring with me to yoga?
Please bring a yoga mat, a large towel to lay on top of the mat, a hand towel, and a bottle of water. OBXHY provides them if you need. It is also important that you drink water throughout the day to prepare your body.
When should I arrive?
Please arrive to the studio 15 minutes before class to sign in, meet the instructor, relax on your mat, and be present before class. Students will not be able to enter class after the class start time. We set this rule to respect the teacher and students. Signing up online ahead of time will save you time when you arrive.
How do I sign up for a class?
Signing up is easy with MINDBODY online. You can find the link through our website where the schedule is posted or download the MINDBODY APP as well. You can buy passes and pay for classes all in the same place!

What if I get dizzy during class?
If you can help it, don’t leave the yoga room. The drastic change in temperature caused by leaving the room in the middle of class can be a shock to the body, making you feel worse. The best thing to do is sip on your water and lay down on your back or in Child’s Pose until you feel better. You can stay there for the rest of the class if you’d like!
I haven’t exercised in years. Is hot yoga for me?
YES! Anyone can practice hot yoga! The heat offers so many benefits to all levels. Our classes are set to be appropriate for students with all levels of experience.
What should I eat before I come to class?
Is this a Bikram Studio?
No. The owner has trained with one of Bikram’s Senior students, Jimmy Barkan. The Barkan Vinyassa Flow comes from this training.
